The BBC produced a ten part hour long series called 'B&B the Best' - it started on Monday 30th January 2006 at 3.30pm on BBC2. It ran daily for 2 weeks until February 10th and in April it returned on BBC1 for 30 minutes per episode.

The Radio Times programme synopsis described the show as "Business experts try to improve the tourist ratings of B&B's" - the concept being to show low rating Guest Houses how they could improve their Tourism Rating and what they need to do if they are to aspire to a higher rated establishment in the same area

On Friday 3rd February, the 5th programme in the series, was about The Pleasant Court B&B in Southend-on-Sea - The Radio Times said "A single mum is rushed off her feet running a seaside B&B. Experts are there to help but what will the undercover assessor think of her performanance?"

Beaches featured in this programme and having been recommended to Leopard Films, the programme makers, as being the best in the Southend area and as an example of what other Guest Houses should aspire to.
